Weed popcorn recipe
You now have cannabis butter handy for the next time you make a recipe that calls for it. Of course, in this instance, we are going to be using it to make weed popcorn. So keep it handy as we prepare for this recipe.
You’re going to need some ingredients, so go to your cupboards to make sure that you have the following items:
- 3 tablespoons of peanut oil
- ½ cup of popcorn kernels
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- ½ teaspoon of salt
You will also need to use 1 to 2 tablespoons of your freshly-made cannabis butter. When you have everything ready, it’s time to make your very own popcorn edibles!
Step 1: First things first. Using a 3-quart saucepan, add the 3 tablespoons of peanut oil and heat on the stove at medium-high. Allow the oil to heat for a few minutes, then toss in 3 or 4 popcorn kernels. You don’t want to add any more than this, as you’re only testing the temperature of the oil at this point.
Step 2: When the kernels start to pop, you will know that your oil is ready to use. Now it’s safe to pour in the rest of your popcorn kernels. Immediately after pouring them into the oil, sprinkle a light dusting of salt over the kernels.
Step 3: You may add 1 tablespoon of regular butter, followed by half of the cannabis butter. If you used 2 tablespoons of cannabis butter, you only want to add in 1 tablespoon for now.
Step 4: Cover the pot with a lid and wait for the kernels to start popping. When they do, you want to make sure that you shake the pot. This will help to slow the popping process, as you don’t want your popcorn to burn.
Step 5: Just as if you were microwaving a bag of popcorn, you want to remove the pot from the heat when the pops get to where they are a couple of seconds apart. At this point, you may pour your popcorn into a large bowl.
Test out a couple of pieces to ensure that they are the right consistency and are to your liking.
Step 6: You are now ready to use the remainder of your cannabis butter. Pour what’s leftover your freshly-popped popcorn and make sure that every piece gets coated in the butter.
If you’re looking to go all out and want to enjoy the best buzz possible, pour any cannabis butter you have leftover your popcorn, kick back, and relax.
The best toppings for weed popcorn
You don’t have to settle for butter alone. There are a wealth of toppings you can use to inject some additional flavor into your weed popcorn. We like to combine sea salt and brown sugar with ours, as it delivers one satisfying kick, especially if you have a sweet tooth.
Since the popcorn and butter are nice and hot, it helps melt the brown sugar over the popcorn, making a candy-like snack that you’re sure to come back to when you want to crush the munchies.
The choices certainly don’t end there. Maybe you don’t like sweets and prefer something with a little more zest. Give this one a try: while your popcorn is still hot, grate some pecorino cheese over your popcorn, followed by a drizzle of CBD olive oil.
For another tasty and effective combination, melt salt, cannabis butter, and unsalted butter over your popcorn, followed by thyme.
Do you follow strict vegan lifestyle? We have something just for you! Using nutritional yeast, coat your popcorn with 3 tablespoons of the yeast, black pepper, ½ tablespoon of virgin coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon of cannabis coconut oil.
This vegan-friendly concoction will remind you of nacho cheese without any ingredients that will interfere with your diet.
Don’t be afraid to get creative with your weed popcorn toppings. You are only limited by your imagination, so have fun with it! Be sure to explore what other people are trying to give you some ideas on what you can do with your popcorn.
