Help Fight For a More Equitable Cannabis Industry When You Use Emjay

Fighting for a more equitable cannabis industry

Round up your purchases to the nearest dollar to support the Last Prisoner Project, an initiative focusing on reforming unjust cannabis laws that disproportionately harm Black and brown communities.

A few months back, we sent out an email promising to come up with a plan to actively address the ways we can contribute to the fight for racial and social equity. The cannabis industry in particular has been built atop the criminalization and marginalization of Black and brown people. As a company, as individuals, and as members of our communities, the team at Emjay is committed to continuing to learn and implement actions that actively create greater equity within the industry.

One of the ways we’re doing this is our new round-up feature at checkout. From now on, with every order you place with Emjay, you now have an option to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar and have that amount donated to the Last Prisoner Project. Our aim is that over time, these consistent contributions add up to meaningful support for an organization that is doing vital work in overturning unjust laws and policies in the cannabis space.

Here’s how it works: At the checkout screen, you’ll see a box for the round-up option. Toggle the switch and you’ll see your final total rounded up to the nearest dollar. After you complete payment online or with your courier, your roundup will be sent to the Last Prisoner Project.

Set your purchases to default to round-ups: If you head over to your profile on our website, you can opt to have round-ups automatically turned on for your purchases so you don’t need to toggle to opt-in at the checkout screen each time.

Emjay will match the total of our customers’ rounded-up contributions up to $50,000 each month as part of ongoing efforts to build a more equitable cannabis industry.

The Last Prisoner Project’s Mission:

“As the United States moves away from the criminalization of cannabis, giving rise to a major new industry, there remains the fundamental injustice inflicted upon those who have suffered criminal convictions and the consequences of those convictions. At the Last Prisoner Project we utilize a three-pronged approach to securing FULL freedom for the communities we serve. Through intervention, advocacy, and awareness campaigns the Last Prisoner Project works to redress the past and continuing harms of these unjust laws and policies.” Learn more here
