Tips for a Successful Weed Tolerance Break

Do you feel like you need a tolerance break from weed? That’s completely okay. If you’ve felt unable to get as high as you used to or want to change it up a little bit, a weed tolerance break or “t-break” can be beneficial.

Like all things, sometimes a break is necessary. If you’ve been consuming cannabis for a long time, the weed tolerance break benefits can substantially up your quality of life. Unfortunately, if you ingest THC quite often, the CB1 receptors in your brain can reduce over time. So if you’re used to smoking the same amount of weed, the same amount of THC will start to affect your receptors less. But don’t fret. Here are some tips for how to reset tolerance to weed and why you should take a weed tolerance break in general.

Start slow

Going cold turkey might leave you with some uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, especially if you’re a seasoned toker. The best way to succeed is to ween yourself off. If you have a date in mind, start by cutting your smoking down in halves every week until the date. That way, a few days before your break date, you’ll be able to smoke a little bit once a day. This will make it much easier to go into your first day of not consuming cannabis.

Talk about it

This may be the most essential part of setting yourself up for a successful weed tolerance break. Taking a break from smoking alone can be the easy part, but socially smoking is a whole other story. If you have a couple of friends you smoke with, it’s going to make it a lot easier if you tell them about it. Letting someone in on your plan will help hold you accountable. And more importantly, you’ll be helping out your future buddy, so they don’t accidentally peer pressure you into finishing the rest of their joint. Talk about it; they’ll be supportive.

Give away your cannabis

Some may say to throw all your cannabis away, but that would mean wasting those precious nugs, and we’re not about waste. Instead, give it all (yes, all) to a friend who isn’t partaking in a t-break. If you’re thinking, “how can I make my t-break easier?” Well, not having a single drop of cannabis around will make the first few days a lot less tempting than if you were to have a stash hidden around the house. You want to set yourself up for success, not an emergency plan to fall back on. You can do this. It’s just a break.

Exercise

Not the coolest thing in the world to read, but exercising will not only help get your mind off the ganj, it’ll also help your blood pump that extra THC out of your system. Studies have shown that a more intense workout can help flush THC out of your body. This way, you’re not only supporting your own health (in more ways than one), but you’re also helping your body clean itself out. Who knows, you may even start incorporating this kind of exercise into your everyday lifestyle.

At the end of the day, maintaining a healthy relationship with cannabis is something we all can work towards. Letting cannabis be something that adds to your life, instead of taking away from your life, is the key to a healthy cannabis lifestyle. Once you’ve developed the habits of a successful tolerance break, don’t forget to start back up slowly if you decide to start smoking again. Find a lower-dose THC product that works for you and examine where it fits into your life. You got this.
