Marijuana edibles are popular treats that are loved and appreciated across the map. While the easiest way to get your hands on some edibles is to order them from your local dispensary, what are you supposed to do if there isn’t one where you live?
Make your own, of course! Don’t know how? No problem, because we’re going to school you on some quick and easy edible recipes that you can make without cooking! That’s right, you don’t need to be world-class chef or even handy in the kitchen to whip up these dank delectables.
Cannabis oil: a must-have ingredient for edibles
First things first. Creating your own marijuana edibles requires you to have a cannabis-infused oil/cannabutter handy. While these recipes don’t involve cooking, you will need heat to make cannabis oil.
As long as you can boil some water, you should be in good shape. Below, you will find the items and ingredients needed to make cannabis-infused oil.
- Small glass casserole dish w/ lid
- Medium saucepan
- 2 sticks of butter*
- Rubber band
- Cheesecloth
- Marijuana
*You may substitute the 2 sticks of butter with 2 cups of coconut oil if you prefer.
Once you have everything handy, it’s time to get busy. Simply follow these steps to create your very own cannabis oil.
Step 1: Fill the medium saucepan with water and place it on the stove. Bring the water to a boil.
Step 2: Once the water is boiling, place the 2 sticks of butter (or 2 cups of coconut oil) into it.
Step 3: Sprinkle in some weed. How much you use is entirely up to you. Just remember, the more weed you use, the more potent your recipes will be. If you’re looking to get a nice buzz, don’t be stingy.
Step 4: Once you have added in the desired amount of weed, it’s time to let everything simmer. Turn the heat down to low and let the saucepan sit for anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes. This is important, as it allows the butter or oil to slowly absorb the THC from your weed.
Step 5: Place the cheesecloth over the glass casserole dish and secure it around the edges using the rubber band. Since you’re going to be pouring the contents of the saucepan into the casserole dish, we recommend that you gently press in the center of the cheesecloth. This serves to prevent any contents from spilling over and out of the casserole dish.
Once you have the cheesecloth ready, make sure that the contents of the saucepan are cooled down and slowly pour it onto the cheesecloth and into the casserole dish. After all of the liquid concoction has made its way into the casserole dish, remove the cheesecloth and throw it away.
You will have some weed remaining on the cheesecloth. This is worthless, so just throw it away with the cheesecloth.
Step 6: Place the lid over the casserole dish and put it in the refrigerator. Allow it to stay in there overnight, as the cool environment will cause the water and fat of the concoction to separate.
Step 7: Once morning rolls around, you may remove the casserole dish from the refrigerator. Remove the lid and you see there are two visible substances present in the dish. One is liquid, and the other looks like a block of wax. This is what you’re after.
Step 8: Using a butter knife, gently remove the wax block and throw out the liquid. Rinse off any debris sticking to the block. You are now left with cannabis oil that is loaded with THC. Whenever you have a recipe that calls for this oil, simply cut off a small piece from the block and heat it over the stove or in the microwave, as its liquid form is what you need.
Now that you have that out of the way and the cannabis oil handy, it’s time to get busy with some edible recipes.
No-bake cannabis cookie bars
This classic favorite is one of the easiest recipes around. Whether you’re planning for a party or you need to throw together something in a hurry, no-bake cannabis cookie bars are sure to hit the spot. Just be sure to make plenty, because they go fast!
Ingredients
The great thing about this recipe is that you may not even have to make a store run. Check your cupboards to ensure that you have the following:
- 12-oz bag of chocolate chips (crushed)
- 1 ½ cups of graham crackers (crumbs)
- ½ cup of melted cannabis oil
- 1 ½ cups of peanut butter
- ½ cup of melted butter
- 3 – 3 ½ cups of sugar
Directions
Step 1: Mix together the sugar, peanut butter, and graham crackers in a medium bowl.
Step 2: When you have thoroughly combined these ingredients, add in the melted butter and cannabis oil. Next, blend your new mixture together nicely.
Step 3: Pour the mixture into a pan (9 x 13 works the best). Once the pan is full, press the mixture into the pan so that it is spread evenly throughout.
Step 4: Sprinkle the crushed chocolate chips over the mixture and spread around to ensure that they are even. Follow this by gently pushing the chips into the mixture.
Step 5: Place the pan into the refrigerator and allow it to chill for about 2 to 3 hours. Once it is sufficiently firmed, remove the pan and use a knife to cut the mixture into bars.
