To celebrate Black History Month, Emjay will be doing spotlights on Black-owned cannabis brands and featuring them on our blog, email, and social channels. Each feature will aim to highlight the brand’s journey over the years and showcase how they got to where they are today.
Q: When and how did you first get started in the cannabis industry?
A: Being an early adopter of cannabis, I have always been an advocate for the plant and been pushing for it to go legal. But, it was only in 2016 when I co-founded Tyson Holistic, a cannabis company focused on CBD products that I formally joined the industry. Since then, my commitment to sharing the benefits of cannabis with others has grown exponentially. And as fate would have it, many years later, I was introduced to Chad Bronstein and Adam Wilks, known leaders in the cannabis space. Together, we realized that with our combined passions, there was an opportunity to bring something new and truly special to market. In October of 2021, we did just that and launched Tyson 2.0, a suite of innovative, high-quality cannabis products known for purity, precision, and wide accessibility.
What are some of the greatest challenges you faced building your business?
The biggest challenge that exists today is that cannabis is still illegal throughout most of the nation. Once that happens, Tyson 2.0 will be well positioned to deliver on our mission to reach fans nationwide.
How would you sum up the story your brand is telling?
The Tyson 2.0 legacy is purity, precision, and wide accessibility. Providing consumers with outstanding products, in various forms and at a wide range of prices, delivers on our mission to bring the benefits of cannabis to more people.
What are some of the biggest changes you’ve witnessed or experienced in the cannabis industry over the years?
Over the years, I’ve seen more forms of cannabis than I could have ever imagined. I mostly smoke flower, so to see all the new types of concentrates and edibles coming out is really game-changing.
What do you see as the most important role of cannabis in our culture?
I see cannabis as a healer. I want the people who knew me in the past to see me now, to see the change that cannabis can bring. With cannabis you look at the world differently and hopefully leave it better.
What are your proudest accomplishments with your brand and/or business?
I couldn’t be prouder of the Tyson 2.0 products we’ve created. I’ve personally tested and approved every item in our line, so now fans nationwide will get to experience some of my favorite cannabis products.
What’s next?
We’re heading nationwide! You’ll find more of my products available in your home state, if not already very soon.
