Cannabis users all around the world know exactly how to appreciate a peanut butter cookie when they see one. And to think such a soft, sweet, and salty snack could be made better by adding a bit of cannabis? That can only mean one thing; peanut butter cookies just got a lot cooler. Peanut butter cookies are an easy and fast bake. But, when adding in the beloved Allstar element of cannabis, the bake takes a little while longer.
For an edible to get you feeling high, it has to be decarboxylated. This basically means that in order for any weed to get you high, it needs to be exposed to light and heat. Just like smoking, the fire from the lighter is what activates the compounds inside the cannabis that produce your high, turning it from an acid-form, THCA, to its active form, THC. With edibles, you can’t just put the dried flower in the dough and wish for the best. It needs to be pre-heated, ie, decarbed in order to produce effects. After you have decarboxylated your weed, it’s time to make cannabutter. Then you can make the cookies themselves.
Cannabis Infused Peanut Butter Cookies
Equipment
- 1 Baking Sheet
- 1 Sauce Pan
- 1 Grinder
- 1 Glass Bowl or Jar
- Cheesecloth or Fine Metal Strainer
Ingredients
- 1/2 Ounce Cannabis Flower
- 8 Ounce Butter
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 Cup Cannabutter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225-275 degrees F.
- Grind or break up your weed.
- Spread your weed out in an even layer on the baking sheet so that it may be decarbed.
- If your weed is on the drier side, bake it for 20 minutes. If your weed is still pretty moist, bake it for 45 minutes. Rotate the weed every 10 minutes to ensure it’s baking evenly. Once it turns a reddish-brownish green, it's ready.
- Melt your butter in a saucepan.
- Once it’s completely melted, add your decarbed cannabis. And mix in thoroughly.
- Turn down to low heat and let butter mixture simmer for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally. Be careful never to let the mixture come to a boil.
- Let the butter cool to room temperature. Use it or store it in a well-sealed container for up to six months (!!) in the fridge or freezer.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix together all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Roll up around a tablespoon of cookie dough and place it on a cookie sheet.
- Use a fork to gently press the dough down (a classic for peanut butter cookies).
- Sprinkle on a little sugar.
- Cook for 8 minutes or until done.
- Let cool.
