Everything You Need To Know About The Brand CANN

When they met in 2013, CANN founders Jake Bullock and Luke Anderson had no idea that they would be revolutionizing the cannabis drink industry in a few short years. What they did know, is they were both over the toxic drinking culture they experienced on a daily basis in their work and social lives.

While people have been using alcohol as a social lubricant for centuries, it’s easy to find yourself in a position to over-indulge. As a part of the queer community, Bullock and Anderson were all too familiar with using alcohol as a coping mechanism for everything from dealing with awkward social interactions to coming to terms with your identity. “Luke and I realized alcohol-fueled socializing wasn’t working for us,” Bullock said in an interview with MadMen. “It wasn’t serving us from a professional standpoint, from a personal standpoint, physically, mentally—it was preventing us from not only being the best versions of ourselves but really feeling like the best versions of ourselves.”

So in 2018, CANN Social Tonics set out to create a micro-dose beverage that would provide an uplifting and hangover-free option for socializing in any setting. They perfected their formula and decided on fun flavors like lemon lavender, blood orange cardamom, and grapefruit rosemary, each containing 2mg of THC and 4mg of CBD. Their intimate launch at a Venice dispensary was a smashing success and CANN quickly turned into one of the best-selling cannabis-infused drink companies in the country.

Why we love CANN

Beyond having an amazing product, we love CANN because they promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in every part of their business. From partnerships with organizations like Cannaclusive, Eaze Momentum, and Cannabis for Black Lives to inclusive hiring at every level of their organization, Cann is committed to amplifying minority voices.

According to founder Luke Anderson “Being a cannabis brand at all, you have to donate your money to BIPOC cannabis organizations. You have to use your social platforms to share content from BIPOC voices. You have to hire and promote BIPOC people [at] every level of the organization. There’s a lot of cannabis brands out there that are touting diversity statistics, but it’s like, okay, you have a lot of diversity at the entry-level, but you have no diversity in your executive team [and] at the board level,” noted Anderson. “That’s where the actual change in this industry happens.”
